New Years Resolution

Firstly, just a quick reminder that you can still take part in my Christmas raffle if you want to win one of my knits.

Up until today, I was hoping to still be able to fly back home and as I had bought Make them yourself – Christmas crackers to use them at the Family reunion, I thought I could start early with my New Years resolution which is not to be mentally lazy but trying out new things.

So I started to make tiny things to put in the Christmas crackers. To be honest, I came only about half way. I could have knitted a sweater in the same time ๐Ÿ™‚

I have made a few finger puppets for all the children in my family.

In theory there is still one missing and I gave the pig already to leaving mother in law as a New Years lucky charm plus the other four got nicked by my own children. So I guess, it’s back to the start.

I have started a bit randomly following cute patterns for a snowman or a snail or just improvise for example a little beer bottle or a bag, this is how far I got in this few and busy days.

I am unsure how to proceed, I might finish the project and just send it to everybody or keep the ones that I have already made for other purposes and stop now as I can tick the box of knitting tiny objects.

I wish you all a “good slide” or Guten Rutsch as we would say and a very Happy and healthy new year.

and the best of it…

Living in between cultures has one big advantage, you can choose the best of both ๐Ÿ™‚

So, yesterday, I got presents from Baby Jesus (from my husband a voucher for a trip to a yarn shop where I can buy as much as I can carry ๐Ÿ™‚ ) and today it was time for Father Christmas bringing presents.ย  So I thought it is my turn to give away something. (Ok, the actual plan was to do that as a last Door of my blog advent calendar but I got too busy with my plans having changed so dramatically)

So here is my first ever raffle.

I will be giving away one green super chunky cowl with buttons, one brown moss stitch hairband with flower and one purple phone case.

This is only meant to be a fun Christmas treat so the rules are simple and since this blog hasn’t got too many followers yet, your chances to win are not bad at all:

If you want to take part, just leave a comment (a quick hello will be enough) until the 6/1/2014

Only leave ONE comment, I will delete duplicates

Every real person can take part, a part from my husband (that would be really silly)

I will pick the three lucky winnersย  on the 7/1/2014 using the random number generator .

I will post the result here and will contact the winners via email (so please make sure you leave your correct email address when taking part)

The result of the raffle draw is final.

The give-aways are not exchangeable, transferable or redeemable for cash

MERRY CHRISTMAS again to all of you, I hope you are all having a lovely time with your family and good luck for the raffle

Door 24 – last bag hanging

IMG_1465So for us it was the last bag we opened – fancy adhesive tape if you want to know.

I guess, one of the advantages of having Baby Jesus bringing presents instead of Father Christmas is that we actually get them on Christmas Eve ๐Ÿ™‚

And since we had to change our travelling plans last minute because of an infected middle ear, I was busy buying food and cooking rather than having everything in place and just packing. Never mind, mother in law did the travelling instead, so we will have a nice evening.

Merry Christmas to all of you!!!!

Door 23 – something small

As we had the huge outdoor knits a couple of doors ago, I thought the tiniest ones I ever came across need to be shown as well.

When I was looking for soft toy patterns for my knitting class I came across these snails and slugs and always meant to knit them to scare away the slugs that frequently! crawl into our house. But I guess they would feel invited to a party and I should rather knit a scary duck ๐Ÿ™‚

One of my friends told me once about a woman who is actually miniature knitting with pins and normal sewing thread.

What I found online here and here is definitely worth to be checked out – as long as you are wearing your glasses ๐Ÿ™‚ I really admire these people, I don’t think my clumsy hands would want to produce such tiny things.
